    Today, Sunday (June 9, 2024), former MP Muhammad al-Bayati revealed an opportunity presented by the Prime Minister to the Kirkuk Council to agree and form the local government after Eid al-Adha, while indicating that if this opportunity fails, the Federal Court will be resorted to dissolve the council.
    Al-Bayati said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The Kirkuk Council, with its political forces, has not succeeded for more than 4 months in deciding its options in forming the local government and determining its compass in determining the candidates, despite holding many meetings and discussions between its various forces in the governorate and Baghdad, but they did not reach "There was no result and failure dominated those meetings."
    He added, “The law is clear about the necessity of deciding the options for forming the government in terms of choosing the governor, his deputies, the head of the council, and the rest of the other positions within 3 months, but this was not achieved by the Kirkuk Council,” stressing that “there are demands to dissolve the council and hold new elections, and the ball is now in the authority’s court.” Legislative order in order to issue a decision in this direction and end the political complex in a governorate that suffers from several challenges.”
    He pointed out that "everyone is waiting for the opportunity presented by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to the Kirkuk Council by consensus and determining the compass of its options until after the blessed Eid al-Adha.
