    Alsumaria - Politics

    Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Raed Al-Maliki, revealed today, Sunday, June 16, 2024, that the next legislative term - the second of the third legislative year - will witness the approval of a number of important laws.

    Al-Maliki said in an interview with Al-Sumaria News, “The laws nominated to be voted on in the next legislative term are to amend the staffing law, which will address job injustice in a number of ministries, most notably the [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/888843742/%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B5%D8%AD%D8%A9/ar/]Ministry of Health[/url].”

    The staffing law is concerned with determining the number of job grades that ministries and departments in the Iraqi government need according to Calculations of deletion, creation, and actual need. It was first issued in 1956, only to be repealed and replaced by the current law in 1960, to which more than 20 amendments were made during successive governments in Iraq.





    Al-Maliki continues that there is a desire and will to vote and pass the service and retirement law for members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and also to amend the law of the House of Representatives and its formations and the law of the National Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

    On May 14, 2024, the [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/1122135457/%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1/ar/]Council of Ministers[/url] voted on the draft service and retirement law for the Popular Mobilization Forces, according to a statement by the media office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.

    A member of the Parliamentary [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/467780320/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%88%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A9/ar/]Legal Committee[/url] adds, “In the previous legislative term, there will be an amendment to the Personal Status Law, in addition to submitting other laws for recommendations, some of which are at the Security and [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/4084065229/%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%81%D8%A7%D8%B9/ar/]Defense Committee[/url] and others at the [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/2151244947/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%86%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AB%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%81%D9%8A%D8%A9/ar/]Culture Committee[/url] and the Finance Committee.”

    According to Al-Maliki, there are proposals to form some unions and amend the Bar Law, explaining regarding the general amnesty by saying, “There is no political will to vote on it, although there is a need to legislate it.”

    He reveals that “there is a desire to amend the law on the institution of prisoners, martyrs, and victims of terrorist acts and military mistakes and to compensate those harmed by the defunct regime,” adding that “more than one version of the Federal Court law has been presented.” Al-Maliki denied that there were any developments regarding the oil and gas law.

    The first legislative term of the second legislative year has ended. On June 10, 2024, after the term was extended from May 10 last year.
