    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed, today, Sunday (June 30, 2024), the formation of a ministerial committee to resolve the expropriations of lands located along the path of the (Development Road Project), while reviewing the legal vision for managing the Development Road and the Grand Faw Port through a special law.
    The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “Al-Sudani chaired the regular meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Development Road Project, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, the Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Chairman of the Investment Authority, and a number of officials in The Ministries of Planning, Oil, Electricity, and Communications, and the Prime Minister’s advisors.”
    He added, "The meeting witnessed a review of the progress made in the Grand Al-Faw Port. The Minister of Transport also reviewed the implementation procedures achieved, in light of the decisions of previous meetings, and the follow-up of the expropriation file and the resolution of conflicts with the Ministries of Oil and Electricity, and with other ministries and governorates."
    The statement explained, “During the meeting, a joint committee was formed whose membership includes the Ministry of Transport/General Railway Company, the Ministry of Finance/State Real Estate Department, the Ministry of Water Resources/General Authority for Survey, the Ministry of Agriculture/Agricultural Lands Department, and the Ministry of Construction and Housing/ The Directorate of General Municipalities and the Department of Roads and Bridges are responsible for preparing CAD maps of the lands through which the project’s paths pass, determining the ownership of those lands and their legal description, and working to expropriate them for the benefit of the Ministry of Transport, in accordance with the laws and decisions in force, or required to be introduced, to proceed with the expropriation required to complete the project.
    He continued, "The legal vision for managing the development road project and the Grand Al-Faw Port through a special law was also reviewed, taking into account similar experiences in the region and the world, and the vision for energy transfer within the project, as well as the diplomatic file that includes explaining the dimensions of the project to friendly countries and countries wishing to join and participate." In implementation, or the contribution of its companies to the investment opportunities that the general framework of the development path will provide.”
    The statement indicated that "Al-Sudani also directed to resolve the requirements of the ministerial meeting of the Quartet Committee formed in light of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and Turkey, Qatar, and the Emirates."
