    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers denied, today, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, that work will be suspended next Sunday, corresponding to July 14, the anniversary of the declaration of the Republic, due to the absence of an official holiday law.
The Secretariat's spokesman, Haider Majeed, told Baghdad Today, "The new official holidays law, which was recently ratified, does not include July 14 as an official holiday, which means that next Sunday, July 14, is an official working day and not an official holiday."
On May 22, the House of Representatives voted on a draft law on official holidays in the country, including the Eid al-Ghadir holiday for the first time.
On May 28, President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid approved the Holidays Law, which includes about 11 days per year, in addition to the official public holidays, which are Friday and Saturday, with the Council of Ministers being given the authority to cancel the Saturday holiday when necessary.
