A large amount of work awaits the country in one of the global projects, which is an important economic artery that contributes to the continuity of life more easily between the East and West of the world. This artery requires a great effort from the work in its various joints, which requires us to stand at the local executive capabilities and the extent of their potential to implement the important stages of the project.

Member of the Iraqi Contractors Union, economic expert Qasim Al-Maliki, confirmed that the development road is one of the important projects for Iraq, the region and the world, as it will provide the Iraqi economy with sustainable and acceptable financial revenues, in addition to stimulating the establishment of development projects along the road that represent solutions to chronic economic problems, foremost of which are direct and indirect job opportunities that absorb large numbers of expertise and unemployed youth.
He pointed out that the development path consists of several projects that complement each other and require a great and qualitative effort to implement the project stages, noting that the local effort represented by private sector companies is capable of implementing major projects with international specifications, especially since many local companies today possess advanced technologies that contribute to shortening time and effort and the outputs are qualitative and rise to the international level, and that the projects implemented by the local effort represent clear evidence that reflects our local capabilities.
He pointed out that when the Iraqi contractor is given the opportunity, he can compete with international companies because he has accumulated experience, and the local company must be viewed with the same view that is dealt with with the foreign company, at the same time of performance and completion periods as well.
Al-Maliki stated that the Iraqi engineer is distinguished by his intelligence, good performance and qualitative executive capabilities, and this is credited to Iraqi capabilities, which requires the concerned authorities to give him a wider space by granting him the implementation of projects in various production and service sectors.
He stressed the need to strike a balance between local and international companies and to review the prices at which projects are granted to foreign companies, since local companies are capable of implementing the largest projects in a manner that rises to the international level in performance.
He said that Iraqi companies have implemented joint projects with international companies, and the implementation levels were the same, although the profit margin for Iraqi companies is limited, and despite the challenges, Iraqi companies are proving their existence.
He called for choosing solid specialized companies, as the local private sector can prove its existence and can be the important executive arm for various projects.
To that, the economic specialist Dr. Murtada Al-Khafaji said: The Iraqi effort has begun to prove its existence and is capable of implementing many projects, and from here we must work to support the local effort that will implement qualitative projects with high efficiency.
Al-Khafaji pointed out that specialized Iraqi companies can maintain the capital cycle within a local framework, and this expands the scope of work, as the money will be invested in various projects benefiting from the capital cycle. He pointed
out that the capacity of the labor market in Iraq requires international and regional companies, but not at the expense of local companies
