    Economy News - Baghdad
The Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed, on Monday, the size of the financial loans sent from Baghdad to the Kurdistan Region over two years, and the method of recovering them.
The party leader, Wafa Mohammed, said in an interview with Al-Iqtisad News, "The loans came as a legal solution after the Federal Court's decision not to send money to the Kurdistan Region and after approving the budget and linking its share to its oil revenues."
He added, "Loans in 2023 amounted to more than four trillion dinars, and since the beginning of this year for the fourth month, three trillion dinars have been sent, but after the Federal Court's decision to localize salaries, and not to include them in political aspects, and obligating the Baghdad government to send salaries without calling them loans, with the regional government obligated to pay half of its revenues to the federal government, there is no longer what is called loans, but rather the region's entitlements from its budget share."
The leader of the Democratic Party explained that "the region's share of the federal budget was set at 12.67, which amounts to 16 trillion dinars for the year 2023, and 20 trillion for the year 2024."
He continued, saying: “After settling the loans, the Kurdistan Region believes that it is asking Baghdad for other funds and dues, in addition to salaries for the development of the regions and governorates, which have not yet been sent from Baghdad; because those loans were deducted from the region’s budget share.”
