    Baghdad International Airport Security Directorate announced today, Sunday, that the process of opening the entry route for citizens to the airport is proceeding smoothly, and while it indicated that facilities have been put in place for citizens to enter, it confirmed that the inspection operations include all segments without exception. 
    Airport Security Director Hussein Abbas said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "in compliance with the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and based on the vision of the Ministry of Transport and the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management, to rehabilitate the gates of Baghdad International Airport to begin the entry of the general public, the road has been opened and the matter is now proceeding at full speed," noting that "the inspection operations include all segments without exception." 
    He added, "What happened was the simplification of entry procedures for citizens, and allowing groups that were banned from entering the airport directly," indicating that "the operation was carried out in coordination with the force holding the protection file in the Ministry of Interior."
    He added, "A new directorate has been created to replace the previous security company, and it is the initial nucleus for taking control of protection in all Iraqi airports with laws subject to the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and the international laws in effect in all countries of the world." 
    He pointed out that "cargo vehicles and (taxis not older than 2023 model) were excluded from entering the airport," adding: "This proposal came to ensure safety, and there will be development of this systematic plan as time goes on."
