Presidency of the Republic: We do not intend to amend the electoral law

Yesterday, Saturday, the Presidency of the Republic denied what was circulated on social media by some figures about the Presidency’s intention, in agreement with leaders of the Coordination Framework, to prepare a draft law amending the Elections Law.
A presidential statement said: “While we deny such fabricated news that is nothing more than rumors intended to create confusion in the political arena, we will regretfully be forced to prosecute those who seek to spread it at the expense of societal peace and security, at a time when we are working to bring the viewpoints of the partners in the political process closer together; in order to move forward in providing the best services and accomplishing what the government promised in its program.”
