    On Tuesday, Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, conducted a field visit to Basra Governorate to review the progress rates of the ministry’s projects.
    A statement by the ministry, seen by Al-Eqtisad News, stated that "the visit included a meeting at the Basra Pipeline Water Project with the directors of the formations, in the presence of the ministry's technical advisor and the general managers of the operation and maintenance authorities."

    The minister said, according to the statement, that "the ministry's staff is working to secure Basra's share of water, manage it well, and control it, in addition to developing a comprehensive study to address the challenges and obstacles facing project implementation work and find appropriate solutions for them and work in accordance with the public interest."

    He added that "the ministry is continuing to line irrigation projects using the concrete blanket technique in Basra to ensure the smooth flow of water and deliver it to the areas of the tails and reduce waste," noting that "the ministry's working teams continue to inventory and remove all violations and prevent the dumping of pollutants in cooperation and coordination with the local government in the governorate to improve the quality and quantity of water, rationalize its use, and invest it in the best possible way."

    He added that "the ministry's staff in the province has achieved good completion rates for the projects assigned to the ministry's formations to secure water quotas for all beneficiaries and achieve justice in water distributions and remove the salt tongue from Basra province, noting that the Hammar Marsh has been completely flooded with water," stressing "the importance of following up on the work of irrigation networks and maintaining and renewing the pumps periodically for the sustainability and continuity of their regular operation to provide potable water after treating it for the people of Basra province."
