Independent MP Amer Abdul Jabbar confirmed today, Saturday, that there are political parties that benefit from not approving the general amnesty law due to the profits they obtain from the expenses of their food and housing.
MP Amer Abdul Jabbar said in a press conference followed by Mawazine News, that "political differences are what hinder the approval of the general amnesty law, especially with regard to holding foreign terrorists accountable."
He added, "The opposition within parliament wants to save the wronged Iraqi prisoners, because many innocent people were arrested based on secret informant cases or political denunciation," explaining that "many officials in the state exploited their positions to ensnare innocent citizens."
He pointed out that "the law will contribute to emptying prisons and reducing the economic expenses spent on prisoners from food and housing, and there are parties that benefit from the presence of large numbers and the establishment of good prisons."
Abdul Jabbar explained that "many families were deprived of their children, which created social problems and major moral deviations, and the emergence of generations that hate the government and the political system, and will make them fertile ground for terrorism."
