    [size=45]Economic researcher Diaa Al-Mohsen explained the importance of the general population census scheduled to be conducted on November 20 of this year, while confirming that he is preparing an “infographic” of the total workforce.[/size]
    [size=45]Al Mohsen said, “The general population census works to clarify the natural distribution of the population in terms of urban and rural division, and the level of education among individuals,” noting that “the population census clarifies the available labor force in the country, and the percentage of unemployed, which provides space for decision-makers and helps them in making a set of decisions that work to reduce these rates.”[/size]
    [size=45]Al Mohsen pointed out that “the general population census works on creating an infographic about the total workforce and the economic sectors in which they work, clarifying the extent of variation in the distribution of the workforce according to economic activities, and knowing the population variation at the level of units in one governorate.” He noted that “it also works on knowing the strength of one economic sector and the weakness of another economic sector, and trying to correct the imbalance in this variation. On the other hand, the census clarifies the percentage of contribution of both women and men in the public and private business sector, and the contribution of the public and private sectors in attracting workers to it.”[/size]
    [size=45]The researcher concludes with regard to economic affairs, saying, “The general population census shows the population growth rate in comparison to the base year that is adopted to clarify whether the growth rate is within the natural horizon or is it above the natural rate to address the imbalance, if any.”[/size]
    [size=45]The Federal Ministry of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, announced last March that the date for the final population census would be November 20 of this year.[/size]
    [size=45]The last population census was conducted in 1997, and showed that the population of Iraq was 22.33 million people, while the Ministry of General Planning estimated, in its official data, that the population of Iraq for the year 2022 amounted to 42 million, 248 thousand, and 883 people, with an annual increase rate of 2.5 percent.[/size]
