    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Informed sources revealed, today, Thursday (August 1, 2024), that the United States of America resorted to the hotline to prevent attacks on its bases in Iraq.
The sources said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The senior American military leadership feels real concern about the possibility that the Jurf al-Nasr strike north of Babylon two days ago will lead to an escalation against its bases in Iraq, especially Ain al-Assad, which receives the largest part of the armed factions' drones and missiles and sometimes hits its targets accurately."
She added, "The past 48 hours have witnessed intensive contacts between American leaders via the hotline with Iraq in an effort to send a message indicating the seriousness of any response and that Washington is not thinking of escalation, noting that America cannot keep the Ain al-Assad base closed for weeks amid fears that the next stage will witness direct targeting of logistical supply lines."
The sources added, "The American bases in Iraq are witnessing an air umbrella around the clock at a depth of 30 km, with a state of high alert amidst a state of psychological exhaustion and anxiety in light of not expecting a response at any hour, indicating that "the calming messages via the hotline are continuing."
Yesterday, Wednesday (July 31, 2024), political and security expert Ahmed Al-Yasiri revealed how the Iraqi armed factions responded to the Popular Mobilization Forces’ bombing in Babylon, as well as the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
Al-Yasiri told Baghdad Today, "The armed factions' response to the American bombing will be a traditional response by using drones to strike the Ain al-Assad base or target the vicinity of the American embassy in Baghdad."
He explained that "although the response of the factions will be limited and its goal is only to deliver messages, it will have serious repercussions if the response occurs, as it may have American military reactions by assassinating the first-rank leaders of those armed factions, especially since most of those leaders have been placed on the American targeting line during the past period."
He added, "The armed factions do not have the military ability to enter into a direct war with Israel and America by entering their lands, and will continue to target those targets in a limited manner via drones, and do not have any other way to respond from a military standpoint."
The political and security expert stressed that "the region is going through a very dangerous turning point and a dangerous escalation, and Iraq will not be far from this escalation, and it will certainly have serious repercussions on the security and military levels."
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards confirmed that the response to Haniyeh's assassination will be harsh and will involve the "huge bloc of the axis of resistance, including Iran," which means that all factions in the axis countries will participate in the response to Israel.
For its part, the Iraqi factions confirmed their readiness to respond to the Zionist entity and America, especially after the recent strike on the headquarters of the 47th Popular Mobilization Brigade in Jurf al-Sakhar, as well as the assassination of the senior leader in the Lebanese Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr, in addition to the advance preparation for any escalation and outbreak of war in southern Lebanon.
In contrast, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee warned of the possibility of a repetition of what happened with Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, and its occurrence with leaders in Iraq, in light of the ability of American and Israeli missiles to reach their "valuable" targets at any time and place, as happened with Haniyeh, and with Fouad Shukr, the senior leader in the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards confirmed that revenge for Haniyeh's blood would be "harsh" for the Zionist entity and would involve the "huge" bloc of the Axis of Resistance, which clearly indicates that the response to Israel would not be limited to Iran or Hezbollah alone.
