Government: We will continue to fight corruption and will not be stopped by misinformation campaigns

It seems that the government's success in running things on the right track and achieving one achievement after another has angered some who have political calculations or do not want good for Iraq, so they launched misleading campaigns in a desperate attempt to stop the construction and reconstruction campaigns. The government response issued yesterday was sufficient to clarify the truth of what is happening, at a time when Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani continued his meetings and movements aimed at continuing to implement the government program and commitments in the security, economic and other files.
Yesterday evening, he discussed with the commander of the International Coalition Mission to Fight ISIS in Iraq, General Kevin Leahy, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Iraq, the progress of the technical dialogue between the two sides to end the mission of the international coalition in Iraq and transfer the mission to the framework of bilateral relations between Iraq and the countries participating in the coalition, stressing that the remnants of the terrorist ISIS no longer pose a threat to the Iraqi state and its elements have turned into groups hunted in remote areas for the purpose of concealment, as our armed forces continue their military operations to track down any traces or dens of these terrorists. Before that, Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the Supreme Population Council, which issued several decisions in preparation for the general population census, most notably imposing a curfew in all governorates on November 20 and 21. In the midst of this, the official government spokesman, Bassem Al-Awadi, said: “The government is following up, based on its commitment and legal responsibilities, the misleading campaigns that aim to obstruct its work in various fields, including what was discussed of inaccurate information that contains innuendo, and some of which included direct accusations against the government regarding cases that are currently under judicial consideration.” He added that “the government stresses the need to continue fighting corruption and all forms of infringement of the law, in continuous and close cooperation with the judicial and legislative authorities. It also relies on the vigilance and awareness of the citizen in this path so that he does not fall victim to those who distort the facts and deliberately mislead public opinion.”
