    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Electricity announced today, Monday, the completion of the requirements for referring the contract for expanding the Nasiriyah station to Siemens.
The Ministry's media office said in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News" that "the procedures for referring the contract for expanding the Nasiriyah power station to the German company Siemens have been completed," indicating that "the project aims to increase the station's production capacity by 921 megawatts, using combined cycle technology instead of simple cycles."
He added that "the project was included in the federal budget for the years 2023-2025, and is currently awaiting the approval of the Ministerial Council for Energy to begin implementation," noting that "the energy projects in Dhi Qar Governorate are receiving attention from the minister, who held a meeting with Siemens officials at the end of last month to discuss the technical and pricing details of the contract and ensure its quality."
He pointed out that "the contract to expand the Nasiriyah station is one of a package of new energy projects launched by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, during his recent visit to Dhi Qar Governorate, and it also includes the establishment of solar energy stations and strategic lines to transmit electrical energy with a capacity of 400 kV."
