MP Ali Saadoun revealed, on Monday, differences in the salaries of employees in oil companies in Maysan.
Saadoun told Al-Maalouma Agency, "The volume of oil field production in Maysan comes in second place after Basra, as it finances the country's treasury with billions of dollars annually, but despite that, it suffers from high rates of unemployment and poverty."
He added, "One of the things that must be considered in the oil companies file is that the foreign worker's salary reaches 15 thousand dollars, while the Iraqi worker's salary is less than two thousand dollars, and perhaps much less, stressing the need for there to be standards of justice and for the largest percentage of workers to be from the province's people."
He pointed out "the necessity of supporting Maysan and developing services there and striving to do justice to the large segments of the poor and simple people and providing them with sources of livelihood through openness to local labor."
It is noteworthy that Maysan includes a series of large production fields that were referred through the licensing rounds for development by several companies, including Chinese ones. End 25 F
