    Economy News - Baghdad
A source in the Iraqi North Gas Company revealed on Friday that the production of liquefied gas has increased by more than 2,000 million standard cubic feet compared to last year, noting that the production of sulfur has also increased to exceed 500,000 tons annually.
The source said, "Gas production increased to 118,874 cubic meters, while production last year was 116,861 cubic meters, and dry gas production reached 11,874 cubic meters."
He added, "Monthly sulfur production is 4,851 thousand tons, and we expect it to rise to 550 thousand tons this year."
He pointed out that "the Northern Gas Company receives raw gas from the Northern Oil Company through its gas-producing fields, and it enters into production processes to be transformed into several products, including dry and liquid gas, sulfur, and natural gasoline."
He added, "There are local companies that buy sulfur produced by the North Gas Company to manufacture a number of materials used in the manufacture of materials for agricultural chemical fertilizers and other uses."
A responsible source in the North Oil Company reported last Saturday that the company had raised the level of gas supply to the new molasses station from 20 million standard cubic meters to 80 million standard cubic meters.
He explained that "instructions were issued by the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghafour, regarding equipping power generation stations with fuel gas to increase electricity production during the summer peak period, and the instructions were for the company to increase gas production from the southern Jambur station, and the production department crews, in coordination with the Ministry of Oil and the cadres of the Oil Pipelines and Northern Gas companies, the Fuel Directorate in the Ministry of Electricity, and the Dibs Power Station were able to do so."
He added, "The quantities that were prepared by the North Gas Company were not sufficient to increase production in the new Dibs station, which produces 320 megawatts. Production began at 160 megawatts. Coordination and work were done to provide the quantities of gas to the Dibs gas power station necessary to operate the new units and put them into operation, in addition to preparing the old units, as the supply rates were raised from 20 million standard cubic feet per day to more than 80 million standard cubic feet."
He pointed out that "the North Oil Company has increased the quantities of gas supplied from the southern Jambur dome through a pipeline network, and the electricity production capacity has been increased from 80 megawatts to 235 megawatts after the operation of the new units."
