The heads of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna al-Samarrai, and the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, agreed today, Sunday (September 22, 2024), to proceed with choosing the Speaker of Parliament.
The media office of the head of the State of Law Coalition stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Al-Maliki received in his office today, the head of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna Al-Samarrai", indicating that "the meeting discussed the latest developments in the political situation and the challenges facing the country and the means to overcome them, and the necessity of continuing dialogues between the political parties to resolve the problems and enhance stability."
The statement added, "The two sides agreed to move forward with choosing a Speaker of the House of Representatives to enhance the legislative and oversight role of Parliament and provide everything that serves all segments of society."
