    News / Security forces have found in southern Iraq forged amounts of
    money of the local currency and managed to seize the printing machine.

    A
    source in Dhi- Qar province police, south of Iraq told "Shafaq News"
    that a force of the local police raided a house on Thursday morning,
    seized the printing machine, the forged currency, about two million
    dinars of the forged currency and arrested the owner of the printing
    machine."

    The source added that “the force transferred the
    detainee to its headquarters to conduct preliminary investigations with
    him and then refer him to the judiciary to supplement the legal
    proceedings against him.

    The dinar is the used currency in Iraq.

    The
    phenomenon of forging the Iraqi currency has spread in Iraq in the
    recent period as the Iraqi police seized a number of forgers.

    Specialists
    in economic affairs believe that the tense political situation has
    contributed in the emergence of a number of economic crises, including
    money laundering and counterfeiting.
