New York -arac Press December -22: United Nations General Assembly approved a majority inthe early hours of Thursday morning, a draft resolution on the formation of a working group onthe war crimes committed in Syria.
The Assembly adopted the draft resolution submitted by Qatar, Liechtenstein, the approval of 105 members, and the interception 15 members , including Iran, China and Russia, with 52 abstentions.
According to the resolution, the team will work to "prepare the files in order to facilitate and accelerate fair and independent criminal proceedings in accordance with the standards of international law in national courts, regional or international arbitration bodies that have or may have in the future jurisdiction over these crimes."
And calls upon the United Nations decision to all States and parties to the conflict and civil society groups, to provide any information or documents to the team.
In her speech during the meeting, Qatar 's ambassador to the United Nations girl Alia Ahmed confirmed that this decision "aimed at achieving justice and to stop impunity."
She said that " The decision sends a clear message to all those who violate the human values that they have met the justice no matter how long," she said , "will not deter us disinformation lawsuits and accusations against Qatar to continue our efforts to bring war criminals to justice."
During the discussion of the draft resolution, the Syrian ambassador to the United Nations , Bashar Jaafari, harsh criticism of Liechtenstein and Qatar, describing the move as "illegal and non - transparent and unfair," he said.
He said al - Jaafari, in his speech during the meeting, that " the draft resolution contained in what proved a great hypocrisy."
And he saw that " the General Assembly shall discuss this project in light of the Security Council carry out its responsibility in this regard", saying that the Assembly "does not have the power to create such mechanisms as this power is vested exclusively to the Security Council."
" The establishment of such a mechanism requires a mandate from the Secretary - General of the United Nations after the approval of the Syrian government."
He described the establishment of such a mechanism as a "blatant interference" in the affairs of member state of the United Nations General Assembly, in reference to his country, warning that such a move would "undermine the national reconciliation procedures adopted by the Syrian government , " according to the German Press Agency (BD .a).
