Coyotes vs Leafs, Downie Rages Against Tippett

I don't think that Dave Tippett is a bad coach, but I do think he's the complete wrong coach for this team. So far, he's played rookies Crouse, Perlini, Strome, Dvorak, DeAngleo and Chychrun abominably.

Tippett's MO is to play a 35 year old soon-to-retire winger while his rookies grow roots on the bench. It's annoying and it makes this last-place season all the more hard to watch.

People don't seem to realize, because they don't pay attention to the Coyotes, but they have received Vezina quality goaltending pretty much all season, and they are second last in the NHL. They have a record that is chalk full of favorable results - mostly from getting to OT on the back of Smith - and they are still have the second-worst record in the NHL.

But make no mistake, they are the first-worst team.

How bad are the Coyotes? Their goalie has arguably played equally as well as Devan Dubnyk and Carey Price, and Oliver Eckman Larsson has been one of, if not the best defenseman in the NHL.

So, somehow, the Coyotes have one of the best defensemen and one of the best goalies and they still are in last place. How does that even happen? It's bizarre.

Knowing this, how do they continue to allow Tippett to run out a garbage lineup, night after night, not using rookies, not even experimenting. As for Chayka, holy _____ dude, make a move already. Get Stone out of here. Get rid of Murphy. Move Vbrata and Doan so Tippett has to play Dvorak and Perlini on the power-play. Do something. Cause this sucks.

And I get the feeling Steve Downie Agrees.

I'd like to say he's wrong, but he'd know better than me.

What else is going on? The Leafs are coming to town and there is some sort of huge story going on.....but I can' t quite put my finger on it.

Anyways, should be a good game. The Leafs are turning into a powerhouse before our eyes and the Coyotes will get a first hand taste of what could have been had they gotten just a little luckier. One day this will be a match between two of the best teams in the league. Hard to remember with all the losing, but the Coyotes still have the best collection of young players anywhere other than Toronto.

The Leafs recently destroyed the Avs, lead by OEL's Norris Trophy rival Jake Gardiner and his two assists, as well as some rookie you've probably never heard of. The Coyotes will hope Mike Smith continues to channel the power of Dominick Hasek.

Once again, Merry Christmas. Be nice to people. Resist fascists. Remember you can change your mind at any time and most of all, listen to as much X as you can. I'll leave you with this, my favorite Xmas Jam by one of the only guys who looks better without a shirt than me.
