    Jordan refused on Monday to respond to Iraq's request to hand over former Iraqi official convicted of embezzling billion dollars from the Defense Ministry, while the Jordanian authorities to extradite him to the International Police (Interpol).

    Jordanian sources said in remarks to the newspaper "Okaz", and seen by the "Sky Press," that "the accused Ziad Tariq Abdullah Kattan arrest, came at the request of Interpol, and thus the Jordanian authorities accused will be handed over to Interpol and not the Iraqi authorities."

    The Jordanian authorities arrested last week convicted Qattan, who has held several positions in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, including former Deputy Secretary-General.

    She added that "the arrest comes after Iraq sent arrest warrants issued against him to the presidency of the public prosecutor, who in turn sent it to the Arab and International Police Directorate of Interpol issued a red notice against him."

    And as reported by the Iraqi Integrity Commission, the Qattan had received several positions by proxy at the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in the interim government for the period from June 28, 2004, and up to the third of June 2005, including the position of Deputy Secretary General and Director General of the Department of armament, and equipment.

    Jordanian sources said that the country has rejected the Iraqi demand extradition of a former official in the Ministry of Defense and Aracah convicted of embezzling about $ billion, was detained by authorities at the Queen Alia International Airport last week.
     
    According to sources, in a press statement, he said that "the arrest of the accused Ziad Tareq Abdullah Al-Qattan, came at the request of Interpol, and thus the Jordanian authorities accused will be handed over to Interpol and not the Iraqi authorities," according to Manglth Saudi Okaz newspaper.
     
    It revealed the Integrity Commission on Thursday that the Iraqi who was arrested by Jordanian authorities last week, is a former Deputy Secretary-General of the Iraqi Defense Ministry, Ziad Al-Qattan, which required 64 file corruption and his trust about $ 832 million have been issued against him in absentia to prison terms of up to more than 180 years.
     
    He said in a statement that the arrest comes after Iraq sent arrest warrants issued against him to the presidency of the public prosecutor, who in turn sent it to the Arab and international "Interpol" Police Directorate issued a Red Notice against him.
     
    It is worth mentioning that the convicted "Ziad Tariq Qattan," he had ascended several positions by proxy at the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in the interim government during the period from the end of June 2004 and up to the third of June 2005, including the posts of Deputy Secretary-General and Director General of the Department of armament, and equipment.
