Comprehensive survey of rural development starting in Najaf

launched in the province of Najaf comprehensive survey of rural development , which will continue for 20 days.
The director of the Statistics Department in Najaf Fadel Abdul - free Brahimi »Sabah» that this survey , 70 researchers and 13 supervisors attended by, in addition to eight auditors, noting that the survey being under the guidance of the Central Bureau of Statistics ( NBS ) in the Ministry of Planning in order to find a realistic study of the villages in the province that numbering 501 are distributed among all the administrative units.
He added that the department has updated information on the villages depending on the results of the inventory and numbering for the year 2009, it has found a circle that there are changes to the villages after they entered each other in the municipal borders and turned into urban areas, so it has been excluded from the search, noting that researchers will visit 13 955 families in rural villages.
Brahimi said that there are villages where 60 families and there are other villages where 50 families, so researchers will be extradited different forms in which questions for the purpose of providing indicators for each village regarding the services of drinking, electricity, roads , health centers, schools , and water.
He pointed out that there are special demographic indicators such as family size and compositions age, education and work in multiple and complex questions form, in addition to questions relating to agricultural holdings , such as plant and animal mixed tenure, as questions include another section within the holdings which agricultural mechanization and durable goods.
He said these questions give clues from which to build strategies to develop rural areas, noting that previous population censuses I pointed out the existence of a large gap between rural and urban areas in Iraq . In 1977 , the proportion of the population in rural areas 32 percent in urban areas 68 percent, while in 1987 the proportion of the population was in the countryside 27 percent urban and 73 percent, and the decline in rural areas was because of the Iran - Iraq war conditions, while in 1997 there were an inverse migration from urban to rural areas, it has become the proportion of the population in rural areas to 30 percent in urban areas to 70 percent, The migration to the countryside because of the economic blockade and to promote agricultural activity and increase the prices of main crop conditions.
He went Brahimi that recent years have seen migration from rural to urban areas because of the decline in support for agricultural activity , becoming a percentage of the population in rural areas , 28.5 percent in urban areas to 71.5 percent, indicating that the job opportunities and provide services in rural areas will limit rural migration to urban areas, and this is what we are trying to achieved through a comprehensive survey of rural areas, noting that Najaf is the second province where the survey is being after Basra.
