Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi praised the role of his American counterpart, Donald Trump, in forming a united front to confront terrorism after Trump called on Qatar to stop its financial support for extremist organizations.
Sisi's phone call was highly praised with Trump on Saturday after US President George W. Bush accused Doha of supporting terrorism and was the historic incubator of terrorism in the region.
Sisi thanked Trump for participating in an anti-terrorism summit in Riyadh in May.
A deepening crisis erupted in the Gulf this week when Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar because of their continued support for militant groups and undermining the security of the region by rapprochement with Iran. Ending 29/34 R.
