Market beeps lose the noise of hammers

The expatriate engineer for 20 years from Iraq said: "The shops were scattered on both sides of the market. We used to hear the hammers' blows to bring back the pieces of copper and turn them into new things. Those blows turned into loud sounds, like music. "I saw many Arab and foreign visitors in the 1980s roaming around the shops of gold, silver and copper antiques," said Taha al-Azmi, a 70-year-old marketer who recalls markets in the 1970s and 1980s. Yunus al-Budairi, who owns a shop in the market, says: "After I learned the profession from my father, I worked in the 1970s. Now the market has changed a lot, and there is no trace of the old shops."
