    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced today, Sunday, that the percentage of women who have lost their breadwinners and are covered by the protection program is 27% of the total beneficiaries, while it indicated that the (K-Card) will soon be issued to 157 thousand beneficiaries.
The Director General of Social Protection for Women at the Ministry of Labor, Atour Al-Moussawi, said: “Our department is concerned with women who have lost their breadwinners, such as widows, divorcees, orphans who have lost both parents, and wives of martyrs and missing persons,” indicating that “nearly half a million female heads of households have been included, which is a percentage equivalent to 27% of the total beneficiaries of social protection.”
She added that "the protection also includes the unemployed and graduates who have not obtained jobs, whose number is three times the number mentioned above," stressing that "the ministry seeks to increase the number of beneficiaries of social protection programs, especially since women face fewer opportunities in work, especially in the private sector, due to the nature of the conservative society."
She stated that "there are about 157 thousand people waiting to obtain the (K-Card), and they are part of the seventh batch that was delayed," noting that "these numbers are still waiting for their data to be sent to the Ministry of Planning to apply poverty standards, and then issue the (K-Card) to them."
