The New Zealand Defense Ministry said on Thursday that its forces deployed in the Middle East and Iraq would remain in the region after the end of next year as part of the US-led coalition.
"The deployment was expected to end in 2018, but a New Zealand defense ministry document is aimed at new minister Ron Mark Haht that the troops will remain in Iraq after November 2018," the New Zealand newspaper The New Zealand newspaper reported.
"As the security situation in Iraq is still moving, New Zealand's deployment remains the main focus for the foreseeable future," the document said. "Other forces from New Zealand will remain in operations until 2020 to provide logistics and transport to troops deployed in the Middle East."
More than 300 New Zealand Defense Force personnel have been carrying out missions all over the world since mid-September, with nearly three-quarters of them arriving in the Middle East, the majority of which is part of Australian-New Zealand joint security forces in rural Iraq, Others are part of coalition operations in Baghdad and Kuwait. Ending / 25 z
