[rtl]Amnesty International has expressed grave concern at the recent death sentences against Bahraini civilians who have been tried in military trials without legal safeguards.[/rtl]
[rtl]In a statement, the organization called on the Bahraini authorities to lift the latest death sentences against 6 civilians, including victims of enforced disappearance, Sayed Alawi Hussein and Fadel al-Sayyed Abbas last December..[/rtl]
[rtl]The organization demanded that the case be transferred "to a competent ordinary court that meets international fair trial standards" and to exclude evidence obtained under torture.[/rtl]
[rtl]It also requested the Bahraini regime to disclose the whereabouts of detainees who are being held incommunicado and given access to their families, lawyers and medical treatment.[/rtl]
[rtl]Amnesty International reiterated earlier calls for the immediate and unconditional release of opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman and prominent human rights defender Nabil Rajab, and to drop all charges against activist Abtisam al-Sayegh.[/rtl]
[rtl]It also called on the international organization to stop targeting activists and lift the travel ban imposed on many of them and the abolition of sentences against the relatives of the exiled Bahraini activist Sayed Ahmad Al-Wadai.[/rtl]
[rtl]The organization stressed the need for the immediate and unconditional release of Nabeel Rajab, Sheikh Ali Salman and all prisoners of conscience, and demanded the drop of all charges against them. The organization appealed to the Bahraini authorities to lift the travel ban on activists and opponents.[/rtl]
