The postponement of the transfer of Kirkuk oil to IranSecretary General of the Iranian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce, Hamid Hosseini, said on Monday that the plan to transport oil by truck from the fields of Kirkuk to Iran can not be fully implemented at this stage because of security concerns.
"Iran is facing some problems in implementing the agreement to transfer oil from the fields of Kirkuk, including security issues," Hosseini said, adding that "Iran does not have X-ray machines to inspect trucks coming from Iraq."
He said his country was in talks with Iraq to use its equipment.
Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said last month that the export of crude from the Kirkuk fields to Iran would begin before the end of January, as Iraq and Iran are planning to build a pipeline transporting oil from Kirkuk to avoid the use of trucks. Kirkuk through Turkey and the Mediterranean.
