DAMASCUS, (SANA) -The head of the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc Hassan Salem said on Wednesday that the House of Representatives is investigating the existence of a "written request" to Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to stay in Iraq.
"The House of Representatives is investigating the existence of a written request by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to NATO forces to stay in Iraq," Salem said. "Any foreign presence is a violation of sovereignty and international covenants."
He added that "the determination of the presence of foreign troops on Iraqi territory of his foot is not the authority of the government, but is the powers of the House of Representatives," noting that "there are several parliamentary questions to the slaves of the American presence and size is waiting for the answer."
The Secretary-General of NATO revealed on Tuesday the presence of a request from Prime Minister Haider Abadi for the survival of his forces in Iraq, while quoted by media that the "NATO" will remain in Iraq "indefinitely." Ending / 25
