[ltr]Reuters quoted a senior White House official as saying that President Trump had agreed to extend the stay of troops in Syria for a little longer without making a long-term commitment.[/ltr]
[ltr]The official added that Trump is keen to ensure the defeat of Dahesh, and wants other countries in the region to enter the line and help stabilize Syria.[/ltr]
[ltr]Earlier in the day, US National Intelligence Director Daniel Coates said today that the National Security Council had made a decision on the future of the US military presence in Syria, adding that the White House would announce it soon.[/ltr]
[ltr]The comments came after President Donald Trump twice confirmed in recent days his intention to withdraw US troops from Syria after defeating Da'ash there.[/ltr]
