    Iraq news

Iraq announced the export of the first shipment of crude oil through an Iraqi tanker from its southern ports after a 30-year hiatus.

Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said that Iraq through the Ministry of Oil plans to build a national fleet to transport crude oil and oil derivatives in favor of companies contracting with the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).

"We have been able to turn the oil marketing company (SOMO) into a profitable international company after the decline and cessation of maritime activity from 30 years because of wars.

The Iraqi minister pointed out that Iraq had in the eighties of the last century 24 tanker oil, a large part of which was destroyed by successive wars in the country.

Iraq is the second largest oil producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) after Saudi Arabia.
