Taliban break into Afghan army base and kill 10 soldiers
Taliban fighters have raided large parts of an army base in the north of the country and killed at least 10 soldiers, Afghan officials said on Tuesday.
"The militants seized tanks and ammunition at the Chennaiha military base in Gormash district of Faryab province in an attack that started on Sunday," provincial council head Mohammad Taher Rahmani said.
"We have not been able to enter the base, large parts of the base are still under Taliban control," Rahmani said,
A local official confirmed that "the Taliban captured 40 soldiers, but 30 of their gunmen were also killed in the fighting." Finished
