The economic expert in the name of Jamil Antoine, Tuesday, that Iraq needs to 200 thousand housing units annually and over 25 years to get rid of the housing crisis that hit him, pointing out that Iraq suffers a shortage of more than three and a half million housing units.
"The housing crisis has been accumulating for 40 years and the construction process has stopped after the release of a lot of military land," Antoine said in a statement to Al-Maaloumah. "The amounts allocated in the Ministry of Construction and Construction Planning and the establishment of the residential communities were transferred to the military file."
He added that "Iraq suffers from a shortage of more than 3 million and a half housing units, as half of the Iraqi people do not have adequate housing," noting that "Iraq is growing annually million people, and therefore it needs 200,000 new housing units annually, against terrorism".
"The government has tried to patch up the housing crisis, but this is not rewarding and it is assumed that there are plans to build a large number of housing units through giant foreign companies annually build 200 thousand units, so Iraq needs 25 years to eliminate the housing crisis."
