The Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has been tortured before beingheaded inside his consulate in Istanbul, according to the pro-government newspaper Yeni Shafak on Wednesday, saying it was based on information to listen to audio recordings.
The newspaper said that Khashoggi was tortured during questioning by cutting his fingers, noting that she has several sound recordings prove this.
The newspaper said that after the torture was cut off the head of the Saudi journalist, columnist for the Washington Post, who was critical of the authorities of his country.
Khashoggi lost his post after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 to complete administrative transactions. While Turkish officials said he was killed by a team of 15 Saudi officials who came to Turkey on the same day, Saudi Arabia denied the allegations.
The Washington Post reported previously unnamed US and Turkish officials that video and audio recordings confirm Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate and his organs were amputated. But it is the first time a Turkish media has said it has heard the recordings.
The Turkish government daily Sabah reported that Khashoggi was wearing a smart Apple watch, which allowed him to record his interrogation, torture and murder, although some experts said it was unlikely the hour would record events the way they were described.
According to the newspaper "Yeni Shafak" that in one of the recordings can hear the Saudi consul in Istanbul, Mohammed al-Otaibi, saying during the torture Khashoggi, "Do it abroad.
The newspaper pointed out that in another recording can be heard another person says Otaibi "
The newspaper did not specify how the recordings were made or how they were obtained.
Al-Otaibi left Istanbul on Tuesday for Riyadh ahead of an expected search of his home in Istanbul as part of a Turkish investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance.
CNN quoted two sources as saying that the Saudis were preparing a report that Khashoggi's death was the result of a wrong interrogation.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo flew to Ankara on Wednesday to discuss Khashoggi's disappearance with the Turkish leadership.
