Al-Khalidi said in a statement to the MP's office that "the size of the housing crisis and its current and future impact on citizens necessitates the enactment of a special law and the development of a practical plan based on a realistic field study carried out within a clear and definite time frame."
He added that "Iraq needs (2,700,000 - two million seven hundred thousand) housing units, and taking into account the growth of the population, we need (250 thousand - two hundred and fifty thousand) housing units per year, which requires the addition of what we said mobilization efforts And the formation of an operations room and a crisis cell comprising ministers of finance, planning, agriculture, reconstruction, municipalities, justice and the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers and Governors.
The MP presented several proposals, most notably, that the government replace the mechanism of providing housing loans to citizens and the trend to build housing complexes and low-cost role, as the loans will be burdensome additional burden on the citizen as well as the large inflation will lead to serious future effects.
