Turkish Foreign Minister arrives in Baghdad for an undeclared visit

Oglu's visit to Baghdad came hours after the return of Iraqi President Barham Saleh from Ankara.
"Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim received his Turkish counterpart Mouloud Gawishoglu. The two sides discussed the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Ankara, ways of continuing bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two sides," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
He stressed Hakim, "Baghdad's keenness to develop, and push those relations to a wider horizons to achieve common interests."
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said that "the two sides discussed regional and international issues of interest to the two countries, the importance of concerted efforts towards calm in the region and support of the peace tracks in this delicate situation."
The president of Iraq, Barham Salih, arrived Tuesday evening in Turkey for an undeclared visit, which his office described as "private."
The Presidency of the Republic of Iraq said in a statement that "Saleh arrived in a private visit to Turkey, and will hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the developments of regional and international situation, and bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries."
The statement added that "accompanied by the President of the Republic of Iraq in the visit, the first lady Srbag Saleh, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Hakim and Iraqi national security adviser Faleh al-Fayadh," without giving further details.
