After rising prices in local markets .. Iraq opens the import of potatoes

The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Wednesday the opening of the import of potato crop from all border outlets in light of the abundance and scarcity of the local product and find a balance in prices and according to the agricultural calendar.
The ministry said in a statement today that the approval was obtained to open the import of the crop based on the letter of the Council of Ministers, the Economic Committee, which authorizes the Minister of Agriculture to open and prevent the import, and according to the agricultural calendar issued by the result of the abundance and scarcity of the local product to meet the need of the local market.
She noted that the period of preventing the import of the crop during the spring loop for the period from 1/5 to 1/7 and autumn from 1/12 to 15/3, depending on the availability of the local product.
It is noteworthy that Iraq has banned during the past months the import of 16 kinds of agricultural crops, including potatoes has increased the prices of the last crop in local markets recently to exceed one dollar.
