BAGHDAD: Iraq has settled its choice and its official position in protecting its security and safeguarding its sovereignty from bombing its territory.
"Iraq and its government put all diplomatic and legal options at the forefront of its priorities in order to prevent any external interference in its internal affairs," Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim said during a meeting with British Ambassador John Wilkes, Chargé d'Affaires Jochen Müller, and Charge d'Affaires Jean-Noble at the French embassy. "Preserves the security and sovereignty of Iraq and its people."
He expressed his "aspiration to cooperate to achieve security and peace in the region, affirming Iraq's commitment to conclude its relations in accordance with the principle of activating common interests, and to face common risks, reflecting its specificity and strategy."
"We want to preserve the strategic nature of relations and believe that Iraq can play a pivotal and essential role in supporting stability in the Middle East," he stressed.
He pointed out that there are challenges facing the region at this stage, and everybody should adopt a calm language and the adoption of the principle of dialogue and non - interference in the internal affairs of countries, and the preservation of its sovereignty. "
