announced former MP Shorouq al-Abaiji, Wednesday, filed a lawsuit against the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halbousi because of the lack of broadcasting sessions of the Council directly.
Al-Obaiji said in a statement received (Mawazine News) that she "filed a lawsuit before the Federal Court against the President of the Council of Representatives in addition to his job because of the failure of the House of Representatives in its fourth legislative session to publicly hear the Council sessions and broadcast directly to the Iraqi people as stipulated in the Constitution in Article 49 The work of the Council under the control of the Iraqi people shall be the source of the powers and as the Federal Court has recognized the unconstitutionality of public meetings unless this is done by voting on the necessity to do so.
The plaintiffs demanded the Federal Court, "to inform the defendant so and compel him to publish the sessions of the House of Representatives as provided by the Iraqi Constitution in force and also demand to drop the legitimacy of the hearings that were not broadcast directly within the means set for direct control by the people who elected members of the House of Representatives."
"This lawsuit will be among other legal calls and legal control procedures that will return the council to work in accordance with the constitution and in accordance with the principle of the people 's authorities," she said.
