, American reports revealed a "secret military" visit to Iraq, which carried warnings to the political leadership in Baghdad, the loss of American technical support and the capabilities of the Iraqi army in its war against the Islamic State.
Two of the senior Iraqi military officials, who declined to be identified, said that the "high political leadership" in Iraq appears to be "serious" in rethinking the strategic relationship with the United States, "The Associated Press" said.
Iraqi military officials stated that "all weapons, aircraft and military technology are primarily American, and were used to counter the threats of the Islamic State and attempts to return in northern and western Iraq."
And the officials warned, "
It quoted military sources as saying, "The senior Iraqi officials have openly opposed the American withdrawal."
"For us, the American presence is similar to the electrical network in the house," said an Iraqi brigadier general, working in western Baghdad, according to what the Associated Press reported.
American sources said that during the past three weeks, the American forces have taken care to fortify their bases against any possible Iranian retaliation.
The "Associated Press" said that it had seen new observation towers and reinforced new barriers at the American base in Arbil, in northern Iraq.
"Behind closed doors, we had meetings with almost all the Shiite party leaders, and in private meetings the approach was different from public rhetoric, and they seemed willing to maintain a coalition relationship and partnership," said a US official, who asked not to be identified.

Two Iraqi officials also said that "Iraq has informed Western diplomats that it is setting up a committee to study the issue of the American presence in Iraq," but earlier, the special envoy of the Global Alliance to Combat ISIS, James Jeffrey, denied the existence of such a committee.
A senior Iraqi military intelligence official said: "Until now, we have not asked the Americans to provide assistance, but rather we rely on our capabilities to pursue ISIS operatives."
He continued: "But we know that the presence of Americans in joint operations is a formal matter, but we did not request that presence."
Another official, who is a commander in the anti-terrorist services trained by the American elite in the western Anbar province, said, "Some training is continuing, but as for military operations and carrying out operations, there is no support."
A coalition spokesman, Miles Caggins, also said that no coalition air strikes against ISIS have been carried out since Soleimani's death, and he continued: "The Iraqis have not requested assistance in air strikes in recent weeks while our operations have stopped."
