{International: Al Furat News} The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved an aid package to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus in the early hours of Saturday morning, which includes providing free exams and paid sick leave in an attempt to reduce the economic damage to the epidemic that closed schools, sports activities and businesses.
With the support of the Democratic and Republican parties, the Democratically-controlled Council approved 363 votes to 40 on a multi-billion dollar package that would expand social security programs to help those who could lose their jobs in the coming weeks.
President Donald Trump has said he supports the support package, boosting the possibility of it being passed in the Senate, which is controlled by his Republican comrades, next week.
The bill is the result of intense negotiations between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin, who is appointed by Trump to take over.
The bill grants two-week paid sick and family leave to those affected by the virus. Companies will receive a tax cut to help them cover the costs.
Employees will be allowed to take unpaid leave of up to 3 months if they are quarantined or need care from patients from their families.
The bill will also expand social security programs that help people weather an economic slowdown.
It will also boost unemployment aid and a food voucher program that helps 34 million low-income people purchase goods.
The bill would suspend a new restriction that the Trump administration had planned to implement on April 1 abolishing the benefits of the food division of 700,000 adults without children and not working. is over
