[size=18]On Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee announced its intention to introduce a mechanism for restricting arms to the state.

The "Iraqi News Agency" quoted a member of the committee, Katei Al-Rikabi, as saying that "the loose weapon on the street is one of the major negatives that the Iraqi government suffers from over the previous periods."

And he added that "the security committee is awaiting the end of the holiday and the return of the parliament sessions, to begin discussing a mechanism that includes an inventory of weapons for submission to the prime minister."

Al-Rikabi stressed, "The government must seize the weapon and not allow it to be taken without a license."
