"There are 373 projects within the ministry's plan for the year 2019, in various sectors, including housing, roads, bridges, water and sewage projects, and municipalities," said Ahmed Ismail, a consultant at the Ministry of Construction and Housing.
He added that "the crisis that the country is going through in conjunction with facing the Corona virus, and the measures that accompanied this crisis since its appearance led to the suspension of all projects, but the partial ban decision brought back about 25 percent of these projects to work."
Ismail pointed out that "there are governorates in which a comprehensive curfew is imposed, which prevents the possibility of resuming projects in them, in addition to the decision to limit the working time of workers by 25 percent, which cannot provide integrated staff to work in projects."
He noted that "the ministry was able to resume work in governorates that did not record high rates of infection, including Nineveh and Anbar."
In the same context, the advisor explained that "there is a problem that led to the suspension of projects, including the difficulty of providing materials and equipment for projects, many of which depend on importing from Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, warning that these countries have spread the disease to the degree of epidemic on the one hand, and on the other hand, closing The border entry points made it impossible for these materials to reach the country to promote projects, and therefore they stopped.
