, spokesman for the Iraqi Oil Ministry, Asim Jihad, confirmed, on Thursday, the continuation of consultations to expedite the settlement of procedures for extending the Iraqi-Jordanian oil pipeline to transport crude oil extracted from the Basra fields in southern Iraq to the city of Aqaba, southern Jordan.
Jihad said, "The consultations are continuing to expedite the resolution of technical and contractual procedures and procedures with the concerned authorities, leading to the signing of the agreement with the concerned countries and contracts with companies or a coalition of companies implementing the project."
"After completing all this, the name of the company implementing the project and the date of the start of implementation, which was suspended due to Covid 19, will be announced," he added.
A few days ago, Iraq expressed its desire to extend the "Basra - Aqaba" oil pipeline to Egypt, to be a new outlet for Iraqi oil exports to North Africa.
