On Sunday, a member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, Layal Al-Bayati, warned of what she described as a sudden "poor revolution" due to the high prices .
Al-Bayati said that "the poor turn poorly into poverty due to the high prices of foodstuffs," indicating that "the continued looting and corruption with increasing unemployment, poverty rates and lack of job opportunities will lead to a sudden, earth-shattering poor revolution that no one can stand against ."
She pointed out that "the citizen no longer speaks in his councils except how to face difficult living in light of the collapse of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar and the rise of inflammatory foodstuffs in the local markets."
