{Economic: Al Furat News} Oil prices fell on Monday, after four days of gains, as investors and traders awaited important talks by OPEC + after a dispute within the group that could lead to major producers increasing trading volumes to seize their market shares.
The useful summary.. In important news, you can find it in the Euphrates News channel on the telegram.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Brent crude was down 10 cents, or 0.13 percent, at $76.05 a barrel by 05:15 GMT. US oil was down 7 cents, or 0.07%, at $75.09 a barrel, after rising 1.5% last week, the sixth consecutive week of gains for the contract.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, known as OPEC+, voted on Friday to increase production by about two million barrels per day from August to December 2021 and to extend the remaining production cuts until the end of 2022, but objections from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) prevented an agreement.
Public discord has been rare among group members, as national interests increasingly diverge, affecting OPEC+ policy as oil users want more crude as their economies recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Sunday, Saudi Arabia's energy minister sought to roll back the UAE's opposition to the proposed OPEC+ deal, calling for "compromise and rationality" to gain consensus when the group meets again on Monday.
It also highlighted uncertainty about the course of the pandemic and production from Iran and Venezuela.
In the United States, energy companies increased oil and natural gas rigs for the third week of the past four.
Baker Hughes said in its report on Friday that the number of oil and gas rigs, an early indicator of future production, rose by 5 to 475 in the week ending July 2, the most since April 2020.
