Shafaq News/ Muthanna Water Director, Muhammad Talib, revealed on Wednesday the latest developments in withdrawing the large Samawa water project from a German company in the governorate.
Talib told Shafaq News Agency, "The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Municipalities has withdrawn the large Samawa water project, which cost 167 billion Iraqi dinars from the German company (BWT) because of its reluctance to work for more than 8 years."
And he indicated that "the ministry decided to transfer work to one of its subsidiaries by direct invitation, after obtaining the approval of the Council of Ministers in this matter."
He stressed that "the dispute between Iraq and the German company has become judicial in the Al-Muthanna Federal Court of Appeal, where the German company is demanding to return to work because of the circumstances it went through during the last period."
Talib pointed out that "the Iraqi government demands the judiciary to inventory the work site and determine the percentage of completion of 64%, in order for this to be an excuse against the company coming by direct invitation from where the withdrawn company ended the work."
