Shafaq News/ The State of Law bloc led by former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki renewed today, Saturday, its adherence to forming the new government after it allied itself with other blocs and independent deputies to become the largest parliamentary bloc, confirming that al-Maliki was renamed prime minister.
The winner of a new parliamentary session, Muhammad Al-Sihoud, said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, that his bloc "concluded a strategic alliance with most of the blocs and lists that won the elections that took place on the tenth of this month, bringing the total of those involved in the formation of the (coordinating framework) to more than 93 deputies." .
And he indicated that the new alliance includes "the rule of law, the Al-Fateh alliance, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, the Hezbollah Brigades, the Rights bloc, and other currents, in addition to some independents who found in the new bloc what represents their ambitions to establish a strong state."
He added, "Our bloc is the largest, and after the approval of the final election results and the convening of the first session of the House of Representatives, we will register (the coordinating framework) as the largest parliamentary bloc, and therefore it will be tasked with naming the government and its head."
Regarding the conflict of the new election law with regard to entering into parliamentary alliances prior to the announcement of the formation of the government, Chihod said, "We are working in accordance with the decisions of the Federal Court, and there is no decision or law that cancels the decisions of the Federal Court, and the decisions of the latter are still valid and binding on all, and against that we formed the largest coalition."
He pointed out that "the winning Kurdish lists, along with the Sunni brothers, expressed their desire to enter into an alliance with us to form the government as soon as possible, and then distribute tasks according to executive positions."
Chihod stressed, "After deciding the announcement and approval of the results of the commission, and naming us the largest bloc, we will go towards naming the prime minister, and it may be possible to rename al-Maliki as prime minister according to the electoral entitlement of the largest bloc. This does not mean that we have no other candidates for prime minister, and the matter remains subject to political consensus."
Regarding the coordination framework's demand for the re-election, he said, "The re-election is difficult, but we demanded a re-counting and manual counting of all electoral stations."
And about their alliance with the Sadrist bloc, he explained that "the doors of the coordination framework are open to all Shiite political forces, and those who believe in our political program are welcome."
In a statement received by Shafak News Agency, Muhammad Salih al-Iraqi, who is close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, criticized the Islamic Dawa Party with its current leaders, calling for "reforming what has been corrupted before it is too late."
Addressing the Dawa Party, he added, "I hope to fix what has been corrupted before it is too late, and what happened in these elections is the best evidence of what I say."
Earlier today, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Essam Hussein, ruled out the alliance of the Sadrist bloc led by Muqtada al-Sadr with the State of Law coalition, led by Nuri al-Maliki, for the purpose of forming the new Iraqi government.
Hussein told Shafaq News Agency, "The next stage will witness the formation of a coalition government, through the Alliance of the Mighty," noting that "this coalition will include the political forces that have won large and influential seats in Parliament, and we currently have understandings with many of these political forces."
