{Economic: Al Furat News} The Trade Center announced the arrival of 48 thousand tons of American rice to the southern ports for the food basket items.
The ministry's spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, told {Euphrates News}: "The ministry received 48 thousand tons of American rice in the southern ports, after the examination procedures that took place at the regional borders."
"These quantities were transferred directly to all warehouses in the governorates, and there is a delivery plan," he added.
And Hannoun said, "The ship arrived today," stressing that "the ministry continues with the processing operations within the food basket, and there is no shortage of the material."
He pointed out, "What happened from the delay in distributing rice as a result of transport operations at sea and customs procedures in southern ports, as well as the delay in inspection procedures in the types of this material."
He explained that "all the quantities allocated in the food basket are properly prepared, and we assure the citizens that there is no problem with it or with the rice that is prepared for 40 million Iraqi citizens."
Hanoun stressed that "the delay was caused by the transportation, and it was resolved by the ministry's staff, in cooperation with the company investing in the food basket project, and distribution is underway."
