Former parliament member Sarkot Shamsuddin confirmed, on Sunday, that the Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by Massoud Barzani wants to insult the country by nominating Riber Ahmed for the presidency.
Shams El-Din said in a statement to "Al-Maalouma", "The candidate is from the third line in the Democratic Party and is nothing more than an employee in the office of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Territory."
He added, "The presidency of the republic is the most important position and symbolizes the sovereignty of the country and must be respected by everyone, so you should not vote for it."
The Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Masoud Barzani, had earlier nominated the region's interior minister, Riber Ahmed, for the post of the presidency.
